Kickstarter Is Putting $1 Million Behind Creators. Applications Are Open.
Kickstarter's new Culture Fund is backing independent creators with $1 million, and you don't need a track record to get a piece of it.
First-timers can apply. You need to be 18 with a campaign live or in draft, and "draft" only means a main image and a short description. That's the whole barrier to entry.
The fund covers art, photography, dance, theater, film, fashion, and music. Every project selected gets at least $1,000, with larger pledges possible, plus promotion through Kickstarter's own channels.
Reviews run on a rolling basis and you should hear back within six weeks.
